Gregory McCarthy, CFA
Greg serves as the lead investment consultant to all types of participant directed and trustee directed plans nationwide. As a member of PEI’s leadership team, he directs the firm’s efforts in consulting practices. Since joining PEI in 1994, Greg has extensive experience with all aspects of fiduciary oversight including investment committee charters, investment policy statements, performance evaluation, investment manager due diligence, vendor selection, and fee benchmarking.
In addition to his experience at PEI, Greg has taught various mathematics courses at the County College of Morris. He has testified before the DOL’s ERISA Advisory Council as well as conducted webinars regarding the challenges of monitoring and selecting Target Date Funds (TDFs) following the release of a paper he co-authored entitled “A Solution for Evaluating Target Date Funds Using Plan Specific Demographics: Retirement Income Predictor.” In addition to being quoted in Pensions & Investments, he has written on such subjects as 401(k) investment lineup construction and been published in the Journal of Pension Benefits.
Greg received a BA in Mathematics and Economics from the College of the Holy Cross and MBA from the Graduate School of Management at Rutgers University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute (CFAI), the CFA Society of Colorado (CFACO) and the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society.
In addition to his experience at PEI, Greg has taught various mathematics courses at the County College of Morris and served as a volunteer for the CFA Institute CFA Program.
