Retirement Plans Fiduciary Consultant

Position is located in Warren, New Jersey

Role Description:

As a Consultant, you will lead the delivery of services to a portfolio of institutional clients and their investment committees. In addition, this client and prospect-facing role represents a great opportunity to use your consulting and client management skills to help clients and to continue to grow our business. Frequent travel is required.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

To fulfill this role, the ideal candidate will be able to use his or her skills, in conjunction with PEI’s internal specialized support teams to do the following

  • Develop and review Investment Policy Statements
  • Investment Menu Design and Asset Allocation Reviews
  • Investment manager and/or mutual fund Performance Monitoring
  • Target Date Funds Selection and Monitoring
  • Plan Costs & Plan Cost Structure
  • Plan Fee Reasonability Assessments
  • Regulatory / Legislative / DC Insights
  • Build strong relationships with and manage all aspects of consulting relationships for assigned clients
  • Maintain marketplace visibility participating in professional societies and publication or articles in appropriate trade journals
  • Contribute to business development through direct client/prospect approach and by being involved in responding to requests for proposals participating in shortlist presentations and responding to requests and leads from colleagues in other lines of business
  • Contribute to the expansion and ongoing maintenance of our client collateral
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, actuarial science or other business-related area with strong quantitative and analytical course content
  • Professional designation such as MBA, or CFA Charter a plus but not required
  • 8 years of relevant experience, including at least three in a DC environment (such as at a consulting firm or a record keeper)
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office suite

Consulting Support Analyst

Work within a team environment to assist multiple Fiduciary Consultants (FCs) with delivering PEI’s services and managing their client accounts. The position involves specific account assignments, although responsibilities extend to more general team support. This position reports to the Fiduciary Consultants to which the analyst is assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Request and obtain necessary investment and plan related information from outside services, partners and sources.
  • Process and enter investment and plan related information into various reporting tools and applications utilized by the team, in keeping with the Consulting Support Team’s processes and procedures.
  • Produce investment and plan level report materials as required by assigned FCs, with a high level of quality and accuracy.
  • Manage due dates & workflow based on direction/schedules provided by assigned FCs.
  • Review report deliverables provided by the Client Reporting Team, confirm accuracy and completeness, and transform to client-ready form where required.
  • Calculate fund or Portfolio level performance and/or verify for reasonability.
  • Prepare draft supplemental meeting materials with direction from FCs with high accuracy and quality.
  • Prepare draft trade rebalancing information and trade instructions with FC direction
  • Assist FCs in meeting client needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain all relevant account information in RAS and within PEI’s file structure, in keeping with team procedures.
  • Follow all core consulting support and reporting processes as defined and communicated by the Manager, Consulting Support and Reporting.

  • Ability to identify inconsistencies in reporting and source data
  • Work and/or academic experience with financial/investment data
  • Familiarity with & understanding of retirement plans & related services
  • Familiarity with & understanding of traditional investment vehicles, their attributes and risk profiles
  • Analytical and problem-solving strength
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Basic understanding of performance calculation methodology
